My most important course
Type of course
The Rock Guitar Master perfectly synthesizes my vision of what a modern rock guitarist should be. I began drafting the course in 1993, and year after year I constantly work on it to improve it.
Course aims
The course has nine main goals. The student who graduates in the course reaches all nine of them.
- Versatility & Specialization. Becoming proficient in several musical genres, and specialized in rock
- Rhythm guitar. Achieving solid groove and timing
- Technique. Developing a virtuoso solo technique
- Improvisation. Being capable of improvising in various musical genres
- Sight-reading. Sight-reading (melody and chords) a medium-difficulty chart.
- Harmonic Analysis. Being capable of analyzing harmonically any progression
- Guitar Sound. Getting the desired sound by using: guitar, stomp box, amplifier, effects and cabinets.
- Personal Sound. Developing one’s own personal sound. The sound in one’s hands
- Management & Goal Setting. Becoming one’s own manager, and being able to plan one’s projects in music
Duration of the course
Three years, eight months per year.
